Tuesday, October 13

We will depart Orange City and head to Red Wing, MN with a stop for coffee or something sweet along the way. Red Wing is a river town known for its famous merchandise, such as Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing Shoes. We will tour these two museums and enjoy some surprise stops in this charming town on the Mississippi River.

We will end the afternoon with wine tasting at the authentic Italian Villa Bellezza in Pepin, WI. We will also enjoy a wonderful meal together before we head back to our hotel, the historic St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN.

Wednesday, October 14

Our day will start with breakfast at the brand-new Scarlet Restaurant inside our hotel. Then we will depart for our first adventure in Chippewa Falls, WI where we will be welcomed at the Leinenkugel Brewing Company for an outdoor tour of the 150-year-old buildings and grounds. The brewery was founded in 1867 and is now under the care of the 6th generation of Leinenkugels.

After our tour, we will have lunch and stop for a quick, sweet treat at the Chippewa Candy Shop. Then we will enjoy another fall favorite – visiting an apple orchard. We will make a stop at Connell’s Family Orchard to taste varieties of apples along with over 11 delicious treats made from the Connell’s fresh apples.

Following the orchard, we will head to Eau Claire, WI where we will check into the Lismore Hotel. Enjoy some time at leisure and head out to the quaint streets of downtown Eau Claire. Dinner as a group is included and will be followed by a glass of wine or a cup of coffee at the Dive located on the roof of the Lismore.

Thursday, October 15

Enjoy breakfast at the restaurant in the Lismore before heading out to Warrens, WI where we will watch the Van Wychen family harvest cranberries – something they have been doing since 1903. Did you know Wisconsin is the nation’s lead producer of cranberries? They harvest more than 60% of the country’s crop.

From Warrens, WI we will depart to the stunning Charmant Hotel in La Crosse, WI. This hotel was once a chocolate factory, so a gift of two mouthwatering chocolates at check-in is no surprise. Don’t spend too much time basking in your room as we need to catch a bite to eat and depart for the La Crosse Queen Paddle Wheel Cruise. For the next hour and a half, we will learn about the historical and present-day Mississippi River – all while enjoying the gift of fall colors. We will enjoy our final dinner with views of the mighty Mississippi.

Friday, October 16

Enjoy breakfast in the inviting atmosphere of The Restaurant in the Charmant Hotel before boarding the motor coach toward home. On the way home, we will make a stop at Metz’s Hart-Land Creamery to see how the cheese we love to eat is processed. We will follow the process from start to finish, ending in the brand-new gift shop where you can buy some cheese to take home.

Let us do the driving and the planning while you enjoy all these historical charming cities along the Mississippi have to offer!
